Rochester Institute of Technology
Saunders College of Business

The College of Business at RIT occupies the former extension school building. Built in the 1970s, and inspired by Louis Kahn’s Unitarian church, the structure was internalized, austere and lacking in student interaction space. The renovation created a new entry, glazed student space and a graduate student lounge, and included classroom renovations, new toilets and a refurbishing of the buildings atrium. The $2.6M renovation was completed in 70 working days in the summer of 2006, and has been described by students as changing the building from just classrooms, into a college. RIT considers the project to be among its most successful renovation projects.
